Uganda’s veteran journalist and a strong critic of the opposition, Andrew Mwenda, has continued to dispel lies peddled by Kyadondo East lawmaker Robert Kyagulanyi while in U.S.
Kyagulanyi better known as Bobi Wine in his interface with major media outlets in the world asked the U.S government to curtail funding to Uganda because the same funds are used to unleash terror against Ugandans.
Bobi Wine again asked Western democracies to immediately “stand with the oppressed not the oppressor.”
In his rhetoric, Bobi Wine consistently raps the regime for failing to cater for the youth who are now languishing on the streets of every town in Uganda.
But Mwenda on Wednesday questioned Bobi Wine’s honesty who claims that the political environment doesn’t favour those opposed to government to conduct business.
In a tweet which has since gone viral Mwenda says, “ Bobi Wine with a $1,300 Louis Vuitton bag ready to board KLM’s business class to Uganda to fight for the poor. If Museveni has stifled Ugandans from prospering, how did Bobi Wine make so much money from his talent to live in a castle, drive expensive cars and carry luxury bags?”
Bobi Wine is set to jet into the country on Thursday and his supporters have since announced that he will be welcomed by a two million man march.
But police also warned the public from engaging in any procession as announced but rather offered security to ensure Bobi Wine’s safety is guaranteed.
The dancehall star is in the recent past gained traction as the leading opposition figure in the land with the youth rallying behind his cause for change.
In unprecedented shift of events, former army commander Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has been quoted in the media praising Bobi Wine’s movement saying it will outwit FDC which has existed for over 20 years under the leadership of Col Kizza Besigye.
Political observers are optimistic Muntu likely to form an alliance with Bobi Wine in the new People Power establishment.
