Museveni to Hold One- on- One Talks with China’s Xi Jinping Tomorrow

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will tomorrow Wednesday hold a closed door meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, TrumpetNews has learnt.

The two principals briefly met on Monday shortly before the official opening of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum of China-Africa Cooperation, at the Great Hall of the People.

Museveni had earlier attended a high-level dialogue between African leaders and Chinese business executives.

The Ugandan leader who has in the recent past been getting close to Beijing as he alienates Washington and has consistently praised China for the credible infrastructure projects the Chinese had funded.

Some of the notable projects that the Chinese had executed in Uganda include Karuma and Isimba dams, Entebbe express highway and the yet-to-start Standard Gauge Railway that will be funded by China’s Exim Bank.

China has also gotten increasingly involved in the development of Uganda’s oil being one of the major players under CNOOC-China National Oil Exploration Corporation.

Museveni, it is said will be among others be discussing how Uganda will benefit from the $6 billion dollars that China has earmarked for projects and aid in Africa.

Uganda’s relations with China have also seen China-Uganda Trade Forums established with one such engagement which happened in July.

Tomorrow’s engagement will become the third time Museveni is meeting Mr Xi in three years.

The meeting was confirmed by Museveni’s spokesperson Mr. Don Wanyama though he declined to divulge details on the agenda.
