Besigye: Muhoozi Kainerugaba is Behind Bobi Wine Torture

Besigye addressing the media on Saturday

Col. Kizza Besigye has accused Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba of masterminding the brutal arrest and torture subjected to Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi.

Besigye speaking to the media on Saturday alleged that through his sources in the army he has established Muhoozi commands a lethal unit (Commando Unit) of Special Forces Command (SFC) which is tasked with executing clandestine missions and special operations.

“Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the advisor of special operations and this unit does special operations. This is the same unit that tortured Bobi Wine and Hon Zaake,” said Besigye.

However, the SFC publicist Major Jimmy Denis Omara dispelled Besigye’s claims saying the commando unit has existed for a long time.

Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is currently detained at Makindye barracks in Kampala following his his brutal arrest last Monday in Arua where he had camped campaigning for an opposition candidate.

Kassiano Wadri was later Wednesday declared winner of Arua Municipality by-election.

Bobi Wine and many other opposition MPs were arrested following chaos which erupted in the area that left one person dead.

State House officials say opposition members had planned an attack on the President who was in Arua at the same time.

Pictures of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s car smashed were shared by State House.

Police later justified Bobi Wine’s arrest saying he was found with a gun and several rounds of ammunition.

He was Thursday arraigned in Gulu military court and remanded to Makindye.

However, those who have been to access him including his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi say Bobi Wine is in dire state and requires special medical treatment.
