Bobi Wine’s Supporters Smash Museveni’s Car in Arua

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s convoy has Monday evening been attacked by a group of youth in Arua District who damaged one of his armoured cars.

Mr Don Wanyama the Presidential press secretary confirmed Museveni was in the convoy when the incident happened.

The waylay has been masterminded by opposition supporters loyal to Kasiano Wadri an independent candidate in Arua Municipality MP race who is backed by Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and former FDC president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu.

Museveni was Monday in the district campaigning for NRM candidate Nisura Tiperu a former East African Legislative Assembly lawmaker.

Police and SFC have since launched investigations to establish the motive of attacking Museveni’s convoy.

The pictures which have since been released show a black landcruiser bearing the Coat of Arms, with a smashed hind window.

Mr. Wanyama however, said the President is safe.

This is the first time civilians have attacked Museveni since he came to power in 1986.

Museveni’s car was designed with another think armoured pane of glass inside the car. This wasn’t damaged.

The Monday violence in Arua resulted into death of Bobi Wine’s driver identified as Yasin Kawoya.

The by-election is scheduled for Wednesday August 15.

The seat became vacant following death of area MP Ibrahim Abiriga.
