Kampala Traffic Police Boss Dropped over Extortion

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola has yet again dropped another senior police official who is accused of soliciting bribes while conducting operations in the city.

ASP Julius Luyima has been serving the Officer in Charge of traffic at Central Police Station (CPS) in the heart of Kampala.

Ochola had previously constituted a team of investigators from police professional standards unit (PSU) to probe reports that Luyima was staging roadside operations to extort money from motorlists.

The police message indicates Luyima has been deployed in Masindi district and was replaced by ASP Joy Zilamuke.

Mr Luyima was dropped along with is deputy Isreal Wambetsyo.
