Top FDC leadership who sat to decide their party's direction.

Last Tuesday, TrumpetNews in an exclusive story alerted that FDC was meant to convene a National Executive Committee meeting to decide on the direction of the party. This happened this morning at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.

FDC which has in recent months been struggling under the weight of intrigue and internal fights, lost nearly all the electable slots in the recent Municipality and Local Council Elections.

However, the stroke that broke the camel’s back presented itself when the party disagreed on the preferred candidate for the Bugiri Municipality MP elections that saw JEEMA’s, Asuman Basalirwa carry the day.

Talk was rife in the party that their top leadership including the Parliament Leadership team headed by Winnie Kizza as leader of opposition, had “abandoned and betrayed” the party with their lackluster support of the party’s candidate, and allegedly secretly supported Basalirwa.

Sensing more defeat a team of divided soldiers, the party decided to re-organise. Party President Patrick Amuriat and other senior members including Kizza Besigye, Mugisha Muntu, Wasswa Biriggwa decided they needed to have the party back on course as Uganda’s biggest political party.
