Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu also known as Bobi Wine Wednesday afternoon bowed to pressure to appear before Police for questioning over last week’s social media protests.
Bobi Wine who was in company of opposition MPs led by the Leader of Opposition Winnie Kiiza paralyzed traffic along Parliament Avenue as they marched to escort him to Kampala Central Police Station (CPS).
“We are going to CPS, I am going to take myself in because Police wants me for questioning. They (Police) wrote to the Speaker and now I am going there. Police will explain why they need me,” Bobi Wine said.
Kyagulanyi was summoned by police in connection with protests carried out last week where he was one of the lead members as they protested against the new Shs200 daily tax on social media and the 1% mobile money tax on all transactions. Police wants him to answer to charges of assault, illegal assembly and theft of police handcuffs during the protests which he led last week.
Other opposition MPs who escorted Bobi Wine to CPS where he is currently being grilled include; Gilbert Olanya, Francis Zaake, Centenary Robert, Betty Muzanira, Mbwatekamwa Gaffa and others.
