South Sudan President Salva Kiir on Monday silently returned to Uganda unprecedentedly where he met his counterpart Yoweri Museveni for the second time in less than two days.
According to a statement from Presidential press unit, Kiir returned to State House to “thank President Museveni for facilitating the tripartite Summit meeting that took place on Saturday at State House Entebbe that was geared towards finding peace in South Sudan.”
“During the meeting that took place this morning, President Museveni and his guest discussed areas of mutual cooperation between South Sudan and Uganda,” the statement reads.
On Saturday, President Museveni and his Sudanese counterpart Omar Bashir chaired peace talks between President Kiir and the Opposition leader, Riek Machar. This Saturday summit was a follow up of last month’s one-day Summit of peace lovers that was initiated by President Omar Bashir in Khartoum, Sudan.
The meeting that started at about midday ended at 9.30pm with several resolutions which will be concluded in another summit in Khartoum on July 10 (tomorrow). During the Saturday summit, the two South Sudan leaders agreed to share power which includes the parliament and cabinet ministers.
