The Electoral Commission has announced new dates for campaigns and polling dates for Parliamentary and Local Government Council’s elections in new Municipalities, Town Councils and Sub Counties in order to provide enough time between the various levels of elections.
Councilors and Special Interest Groups First
Campaigns for councilors representing Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for youths, persons with disabilities and older persons at Municipal level which will take place from 8th June to 11th July 2018.
Campaigns for councilors representing SIGs for youth, the Disabled, and the elderly at the Sub County, Town and Municipal Division starting will start from 8th June to 17th July 2018.
District Representatives in
The campaign period for the District Directly-elected councilors, District women councilors, Sub County/Town Municipal Division Chairpersons, Sub county/Town Municipal Division Directly-elected Councilors and Sub county/Town Municipal Division women councilors will take place starting from 8th June to 20th July 2018.
Member of Parliament, Municipal Directly- Elected councilors, Municipal women councilors and Municipal chair persons and councilors will have their campaign period starting from 8th June to 25th July 2018.
Polling and tallying results for SIGs councilors for the youth, persons with disabilities and elderly of those at the municipal level will take place on the 13th of July 2918.
SIGS Councilors at sub County, Town and Municipal Division, polling and tallying of their results will occur on the 19th of July 2018.
Sub Counties and Local Government Entities Poll
Polling and tallying of results for elections in new Sub Counties, Town councils and Municipal Divisions like the District Directly-elected Councilors, District women Councilors, Sub County/Town/Municipal Division Chairpersons, Sub County/ Town Municipal Division Directly-elected Councilors and Sub County/Town/Municipal Division Women Councilors will take place on Tuesday,24 July 2018.
New Municipal Leaders Elections
New Municipalities like Member of Parliament, Municipal Directly-elected Councilors, Municipal Women Councilors, Municipal Chair persons and Councilors, the polling and tallying of results for their elections will take place on Friday, 27, July 2018.
Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama the Chairperson has asked all stake holders in the new Municipalities, Town Councilors and Sub Counties to take note of the above revisions and participate in the mentioned activities in accordance with the guidelines for the elections.
