After progressive pressure from her colleagues, the Human Rights Commission and other parties, Police has succumbed and cleared Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze to travel to India for further medical attention.
Nambooze was picked from her Mukono Residence on 12th June for questioning over her alarming social media posts after the unfortunate gunning down of NRM leaning Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga.
In the said posts, Namboole said she wasnt surprised Abiriga had been killed and his killing was proof that his party had no powers to protect him from death.
Upon being detained, Nambooze fell ill a day later and was transferred to Kiruddu Hospital in Kawempe where she remained under detention but receiving basic medical attention.
Last Monday, the Hospital directors said Nambooze needed to go for specialised medical attention abroad, and provided recommendations pending approval from police.
Today, the Police said Nambooze would be let to travel. Yesterday,a group of Opposition supporters mostly from Nambooze’s DP party stormed Kiruddu Hospital demanding for her release.
