Uganda Police openly referred those seeking information on Mukono Municipality legislator Betty Nambooze to Mulago Hospital- Kiruddu Branch.
The police spokesperson SSP Emilian Kayima was unable to respond to this website whether Hon Nambooze is considered a suspect despite her medical condition which requires urgency after she fell ill in police custody and has since been hospitalised at Kiruddu for close to a week.
Nambooze had been in police cells following her arrest linking her to the murder of Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga.
Asked what is the status of Nambooze as of Tuesday, considering that she needs medical attention in India, Kayima said the lawmaker is at Kiruddu, adding that the rest of the queries should be directed to those overseeing the health facility.
Pressed on whether Nambooze is still a suspect although hospitalised, Kayima said a person considered detained must be inside a detention facility.
However, many suspects being detained even when on their sickbed.
Pressed harder for unambiguous comment, the police publicity declined.
By the time of filing this report a couple of opposition MPs had stormed Kiruddu facility demanding for immediate release of their colleague whose condition is deteriorating.
On Monday FDC spokesperson Mr Ssemujju Nganda had vowed they would storm the hospital and take away Nambooze dead or alive.
She last year flew to India to seek specialised treatment in a surgical operation which was metal implants inserted in her lower back and it was injured in a fierce fight on the floor of Parliament.
The battle rose out of a contentious debate on lifting of presidential age limit.
