Abiriga Murder Suspect

On Tuesday, Police said they were investigating some MPs over utterances surrounding slain Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga who was gunned down last Friday as he returned to his home in Kawanda.

Abiriga who was laid to rest in Arua on Monday was a popular NRM MP who had made a name for himself through overly donning yellow-the NRM Party colors and vehemently campaigned for the removal of the presidential age limit.

Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima confirmed that Police was in possession of voice recordings of different people that are offensive in nature which is in breach of the Computer Misuse Act.

“The Uganda Police is investigating these recordings including two posts by Hon Betty Nambooze Bakireke, MP Mukono Municipality. Already four General Enquiry Files have been opened at CID Headquarters,” SSP Kayima said.

Nambooze recently took to her social media accounts and among others explained how Abiriga was an easy target even in presence of his bodyguards. Police thinks that apart from inciting the public, Nambooze could be having vital leads to the murder of Abiriga.

Yesterday, leading opposition figures including DP President Norbert Mao said it was shameful for NRM to think they would kill their opponents over political differences.
