Police has rescued a severely starved 8 year old girl Sheilat Namusasizi. The hapless girl who was at the verge of death is the daughter of Shaban Musasizi, a 35 year old resident of Sempa Zone, Luwafu Makindye division.
It is alleged the father was locking the girl inside the house before heading out leaving no food or water for the young girl.
Police Spokesperson Emillian Kayima said they would charge the father with neglect as the young girl is handed over to probation office for rehabilitation.
Kayima said “We have handed over Namusasizi to the Makindye Probation Officer for Emergency Assistance and re-settlement. We also arrested Shaban on charges of child Neglect at and he is currently being held at Katwe Police Station”
Years ago, Uganda witnessed one of the biggest neglect scandals when pictures of a severely malnourished, 12 year old Ssebanga were picked up from his father and ruthless step mother with barely any breath. Ssebanga’s plight shocked the nation.
