If an HIV patient wants to live longer, the only remedy is to accept and cope up with the disease. That is how many have stayed healthy and stronger.
Same applies to struggling singer Angella Katatumba who has Thursday accepted that she is has been replaced as Pakistan Ambassador, a position she is accused of hijacking by Raza Bashir Tarar, the current Ambassador of Pakistan to Kenya.
Since Pakistan has no official embassy in Uganda, and therefore, the former consul Late Boney Katatumba was supervised by High Commission in Nairobi.
After his death in 2017, Angella succeeded her father on grounds that she was the deputy at the time of his death.
Angella would later appoint Rugiirwa Katatumba as her deputy. Many Ugandans wondered if the Pakistan Consulate in Uganda had turned into a monarchy since it had been housed at Hotel Diplomat in Muyenga, a property that is owned by The Katatumbas.
However, on Thursday the nation learnt that the former State Minister for Gender Rukia Isanga Nakadama has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Pakistan in Uganda, Nile Post reported.
Last month, the Pakistan High Commission in Nairobi described the honorary Consulate of Pakistani operating in Uganda under Angella Katatumba illegal.
In a letter dated March 13, 2018 and copied to the High Commission in Nairobi Kenya, all diplomatic missions, international organizations, consulates and the Pakistan Association in Uganda, the commission said the ‘’so-called”” honorary consulate of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Uganda had been ceased to function with the demise of Boney Katatumba.”
Katatumba had served as consul for 17 years.
Uganda government through Foreign Affairs Ministry also accepted to grant the request by the Pakistan High Commission.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda has the honor to inform that agreement has been granted to the appointment of Hon. Nakadama Rukia Isanga as the honorary consul of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Uganda,”
Similarly Angela Katatumba, daughter to Bonney Katatumba who had previously said she is the Pakistan consul to Uganda, when contacted about the latest, development, said she is left with no choice but hand over office to its newly appointed bearer.
“We have known about Nakadama’s proposal for quite some time. After she is vetted we shall be communicated to in detail. In my view that is how protocol should be and not the way Nairobi was doing it, they simply were into embarrassing me instead of doing the right thing,”Katatumba told the media.
“What is left for me is to hand over office and wish her (Nakadama well). I have no problem with her appointment because it comes legitimately. We have now closed office here and I am now starting on other business.”
