Uganda is a country ‘where anything can happen.’ This statement is no longer cynical but a fact.
If anyone is disputing it, then you ought to contact Pakistan Embassy housed at Hotel Diplomat on the hill of Muyenga, a high end suburb of Kampala.
Following the demise of Boney Katatumba, a recognised Pakistan’s Honorary Consul, his daughter Angella Katatumba who doubles as a musician succeeded him on grounds that she was the deputy before he died.
However, Angella has since faced hostility from Raza Bashir Tarar, the current Ambassador Pakistan to Kenya.
In Protocol, Uganda has no official embassy therefore Katatumba was supervised by the ambassador posted to High Commission in Nairobi.
Mr Tarar recently issued a letter warning whoever deals with Angella, does it on his or her own peril.
But Angella ridiculed Tarar saying he simply being petty and fighting her family because of religious differences- her being a Christian and serving an Arabic country.
Her late father senior Katatumba had been appointed by the former Pakistan President Gen. Pervez Musharaf in 2000.
Triggered by the standoff, Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that Singer Angella is not known anywhere as the Pakistan Envoy.
But on Wednesday after taking a few drinks at a popular hangout Silk Liquid Bugolobi, Angella announced she had appointed her brother Rugiirwa Katatumba as her deputy.
The newly appointed deputy consul then took to social media platform Facebook to applaud her sister on the appointment and swore allegiance to serve her diligently.
