Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) who was dropped in favour of his Deputy Okoth Ochola seems to have chosen a quiet life in retirement.
Kayihura who upto now remains undeployed has decided to move ‘upcountry’ , to Lyantonde District where he currently conducts his business quietly.
TrumpetNews can reliably report that once powerful UPDF General established his new home in Bwantobe, Lyantonde and has concentrated on farming among other activities.
Kayihura spends most of his time in Bwantobe from Monday to Friday and during the weekend he is driven to Kampala to check on his family before returning to Lyantonde during the week.
But sometimes, a family relative reveals, Kayihura spends two weeks in Lyantonde supervising his farming business.
While serving as the Police Chief, a relative adds, Kayihura bought vast land in Lyantonde and started rearing cattle and goats.
His sacking came a surprise to many Ugandans following his close relationship with his boss, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Under his reign, the police establishment attracted criticism from the public following a spate of heinous crimes in which senior officers were found involved.
A couple of these officers would later be arrested and charged in Military Court.
Members of the public raised queries if these senior police committed these crimes without knowledge of their boss, Gen Kayihura.
