In 2016 followers of the popular and stylist charismatic priest Rev Fr Jacinto Kibuuka were left speechless following the news that he had been suspended from the Catholic Church by Kampala Archdiocese.
Many were dismayed because Kibuuka had been a blue eyed boy of Kampala Archbishop His Grace Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who on many occasions defended him considering the relationship the two had.
Lwanga was perceived as Kibuuka’s mentor.
Kibuuka was suspended by the Archdiocese tribunal for disobedience and ordered to stop his priestly duties, including celebrating mass and offering sacraments with immediate effect.
He would later desert the Catholic Church in which he was ordained in 2008.
He had risen to prominence in 2013 by performing miracles at Rubaga Hospital Chapel and later forced to shift to a much bigger space at Rubaga Hospital Nursing School premises nearby.
Kibuuk would later acquire a large chunk of land at Namugongo near the Anglican Martyrs shrine from where his healing services take place every Sundays.
Kibuuka did all this with the support of his ‘godfather’ Lwanga who for instance offered a place place in Namugongo near the Martyrs Shrine.
Lwanga also appointed Kibuuka to sit on theUganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo renovation fundraising committee prior to the Pope’s visit in November 2015.
Previously Lwanga also defended Kibuuka following a couple of allegations ranging from Adultery to swindling church collections. Lwanga insisted that all those allegations leveled against Kibuuka were ‘lies.’
It therefore took many by surprise when Archbishop Lwanga accused Kibuuka of disobedience.
Many Catholics until today think the priests around Lwanga influenced him to make a decision.
The one million dollar question that lingers, what crime did Fr Jacinto Kibuuka commit?
The Truth
TrumpetNews has exclusively established the source of the bad blood between Lwanga and Kibuuka.
After being appointed to sit on the organizing committee of Pope’s visit in Uganda in 2015, Kibuuka and Lwanga collaborated with the State to ensure the safety of the Pope.
According to an official in Kampala Archdiocese, Lwanga and Kibuuka on several occasions met State House officials and the President at Entebbe to update them on the progress of the preparations for Pope’s visit.
One day, Kibuuka who had earned trust of government officials was invited alone to State House Entebbe.
It however remains unclear whether the President was part of this meeting.
But this website gathered that State House asked Kibuuka where the Pope would be stay during his visit in the country.
Kibuuka said the church had planned that the Pope would stay at, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Michael August Blume’s residence in Mbuya, a suburb of Kampala.
The Nuncio is the representative of the Pope in Uganda.
“State House security, the Special Forces Command (SFC) then asked Kibuuka if he could take them to Nuncio’s residence to establish the security of the area,” said Kibuuka adding that Kibuuka agreed.
It was around midnight when a convey of SFC soldiers and Kibuuka stormed Nuncio’s house and ordered him to open.
A source said that, the Nuncio was so rattled by the move and asked who had sanctioned the operation, “he called Archbishop Lwanga and grilled him why he would send gun men to his house at night.”
But Lwanga feigned ignorance saying he was not aware what the Nuncio was talking about.
The Nuncio then told Lwanga that the soldiers were accompanied by Father Kibuuka.
A visibly furious Lwanga telephoned Kibuuka asking him where he got authority to take soldiers to Nuncio’s home.
Kibuuka was speechless. Lwanga, very bitter told off Kibuuka that he was over stepping on his mandate and therefore undermining the entire Catholic Church.
Since then the relation between the two men of God became fragile until today.
