Kampala Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has issued an order blocking Mt Sion Bukalango head Father Expedito Magembe from accessing shs 3 billion meant to construct a mega church.
According to a source, Lwanga directed Centenary Bank management at headquarters- Mapera House, to freeze Bukalango accounts until he gets a clear explanation how the money accumulated to a tune of 3 billion.
Bukalango Church is under the leadership of Kampala Archdiocese to which Lwanga is the overseer.
A source in the Catholic Church further revealed that Father Magembe and his administration had planned to construct a mega church to house over fifty thousand worshipers.
However, they were remitting very little funds to the archdiocese compared to what they get from the church during the mass.
A source added that every monthly prayer session, Bukalango church gets over shs 500 million as tithe from the believers.
“But Lwanga was dismayed that Father Magembe always declared very little cash,” said a source.
When he- Lwanga launched investigations he found out that Buakalango Church is very rich.
Whereas Bukalango is in line with the Catholic Faith, the church accommodates other religions like Anglican, Muslim, Pentecostal and many more.
All catholic churches within Kampala metropolitan are answerable to Kampala Archdiocese.
This website has further learnt that to that effect, Lwanga has ordered the funds remitted to the archdiocese should be increased.
After its inception Bukalango Church became a threat to the Catholic Church after attracting a huge following across the country.
Our efforts to contact His Grace Lwanga were by press time unsuccessful as his known phone number was off.
Director of Communications at Uganda Episcopal Conference Father Phillip Odii when reached referred this website to Father Joseph Sebunya, the chancellor of Kampala Archdiocese but he couldn’t pick our repeated calls.
How Bukalango Church was formed
Father Magembe founded Mt. Sion prayer Centre Bukalango which started on a small note but has grown over the years to attract many believers from all walks of life. During mass and prayer sessions, at times numbers become unmanageable forcing other believers to get shelter under the shade of the nearby trees.
Father Magembe’s teachings at Mt. Sion are in line with the Catholics faith. As a matter of fact, Mt Sion Prayer Centre Prayer Centre is under Nadangira Parish. One may immediately refer him as a pastor a title given to most of the born again churches but hat would be wrong. He is a Rev. Fr. Of a catholic origin with a special touch of the Holy Spirit. This fact can be easily be noticed after mass led by him (Father Magembe Expedito). Fr. Magembe does not distort any teaching from the original Catholic Faith.
However, Father Magembe Expedito, like any man of God, Fr. Magembe is wholly gifted by Holy Spirit. He went out to share his gifts of the Holy Spirit with others in need.
Fr. Magembe Expedito intends to bring back all Catholics who has been brown away by the wave of Born again churches. He has instilled in them the confidence that all those miraculous happenings also take place in their church (Catholic Church). In Father Magembe’s teachings, he emphasizes many aspects especially faith as one of the paths to receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
However, Fr. Magembe has also attracted many believers from other walks of life. Ie Moslems, Protestants, Born again, among others. These all flock Mt. Sion to take part in the miraculous happenings.
