The police disciplinary court has demoted maverick police officer having been found guilty of guilty of unnecessary exercise of authority.
Mr. Muhammad Kirumira. A former DPC of Buyende was convicted of unnecessary exercise of authority contrary to section 44 of the police code of conduct when he arrested Flying Squad operatives and paraded them before the media in 2014 at Nansana police station.
The disciplinary court subsequently recommended for demotion from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police to Assistant Inspector of Police.
The police council will now have to sit to decide whether to uphold or overturn the decision of the court.
Kirumira said he would challenge the ruling.
