The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen David Muhoozi, has on Wednesday met with Brig.Gen William Zana the Deputy Commanding General for the Combined Joint Task Force for the Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Mbuya in Kampala.
Brig General William Zana is newly deployed to Africa and is on a familiarization tour of some East African countries including: Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Djibouti and Ethiopia.
He said he is here to follow up on the partnership activities especially the fight against terrorism and peace support operations.
The two Generals recommended for force enhancement, force sustainability as well as investing more in force protection especially in Somalia where the two countries are in limited mission partnership.
Brig.Gen Zana applauded the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) for stabilizing the country and observed the role played by UPDF in the elimination of terrorists in the region, most especially in Somalia.
Brig.Zana also visited the Peace Support Training Centre (PSTC) in Singo and the Uganda Rapid Deployment and Capability Centre (URDCC) in Jinja.
The Chief of Defence Forces Gen.Muhoozi commended the US government for the role played in creating stability and fighting terrorism in Africa.
He promised to create more avenues to strengthen the partnership and international relations between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff, Maj.Gen Joseph Musanyufu and Col James Kaija the Assistant Deputy CMI in Charge of International Affairs and Defence Engagement.
