Besigye Reconciles with Critically Ill Angoliga

Besigye and frail Angoliga

Opposition leader Col Kizza Besigye has for the second time visited frail former FDC head of security Salim Angoliga at his home in Kawempe.

Besigye, a professional doctor was assessing Angoliga’s recovery having suffered high blood pressure for a long time.

The two friends turned ‘foes’ shared a cup of tea on Sunday evening.

Ronald Muhinda, Besigye’s press secretary, said the FDC heavyweight has been supporting Angoliga financially.

“People’s President Kizza Besigye has again visited indisposed former FDC Secretary for Security Hajj Salim M Angoliga at his home in Kawempe to assess his recovery. It’s the 2nd time Besigye is visiting Angoliga in a week,” said Muhinda.

Rivalry

In 2015, Salim Angoliga announced in the media that he had denounced Kizza Besigye as official FDC presidential candidate saying he was not different from his political nemesis- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Angoliga, as an old adage goes, ‘better the devil I know’ clarified that Museveni is better than Besigye, and Ugandans would rather re-elect Museveni instead of entrusting Besigye with the top office.

The two share a cup of tea

Angoliga, sitting at Rock Gardens at Speke Hotel in Kampala added that he would since quit FDC having been humiliated by its founder- Besigye.

The rivalry hinged on a loan Angoliga acquired from Besigye, but the latter asked the former for security.

Angoliga then presented his car Toyota Harrier which, Besigye ordered that he parks at his petrol station in Nsambya.

The car later disappeared.

But Angoliga denied in the media that this is the matter that had sparked off hostility between the two leaders.

Besigye however, declined commenting anywhere in the media on this issue.
