Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah has directed the committee of rules, privileges and discipline to begin investigations into the political battle between Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and junior minister Persis Namuganza.
Over the last many days, the national has been sucked into a cold war in which the State Minister Namuganza accused Kadaga of planning to kill her .
The belligerent Bukono county lawmaker would later be suspended from Busoga Parliamentary caucus.
Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah has intervened to ascertain the genesis of the feud between his boss, Rebecca Kadaga and state minister for Lands, Persis Namuganza.
While presiding over the Thursday sitting, Hon Oulanyah ordered the Rules committee to establish the source of the bad blood between the political duo.
“I think we have all seen and read what the MP is referring to which relates to the leader of this institution which we don’t know details or where it is coming from. Usually when such matters arise, they require that the House be briefed and the Committee on Rules should determine where these utterances are coming from,” said the Deputy Speaker.
“The issues raised affect the speaker of this House, affects her as a Member of this Parliament and privileges that are guaranteed by our Rules.”
His directive arose from Ngora County MP, David Abala’s utterances that the fight concerns Parliament.
“The past one week, we have read from press the various utterances concerning our colleague Persis and Speaker. This matter concerns this institution and is something that is critical for us to understand the dynamics so that we understand how this matter can be handled,” Abala said.
