Government Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has punched holes in the leadership of sacked IGP Gen Kale Kayihura saying he had run out of ideas.
But was quick to add that Kayihura, executed his duties with precision and uplifted the standards of the institution.
Opondo further anticipated that the decision made by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni should have been well thought about and most likely he shared with Kayihura.
“The President advised him that he should clean the Police a year ago. There is no way he could have done so without thinking about it,” Opondo said.
He credited Kayihura for job well done and how his leadership curbed criminality in the country.
He however, admitted that for a long-time Kayihura has worked, it is evident he could have run out of ideas.
He hinted on several reshuffles made by Kayihura back-to-back which deny the police officers time to mastermind their work.
Opondo dismissed the notion that its Kayihura’s regime in which police has been sucked into criminality.
Opondo narrated that since 1992, police had become criminal police not infiltrated by criminals.
He made all these revelations while appearing on local TV NBS as he analysed the underlying issues in the new appointments.
