Fiery former army commander Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has described the assassination of a youthful business woman Susan Magara as a signal that the government is losing grip of the country.
Muntu, who is currently seeking opinions across the country on whether to form his own party likened the current state of insecurity to the instability that occurred in the past regimes.
“Those that were alive in the early 70s will remember that as the Obote regime began to lose grip of the country, a situation very similar to what we are experiencing evolved. The same goes for the fall of Amin and all other regime changes we have had in the country,” Muntu wrote on his social media page, Facebook.
“My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the late Susan Magara upon the loss of their daughter.
Susan’s death comes not long after several women were abducted and killed in Entebbe and other parts of the country. I have opined before that the insecurity our country is experiencing is a classical symptom of a much larger problem: the breakdown of the state,” he added.
Muntu implored Ugandans rise and rescue themselves from the suffering brought by the NRM regime.
“As we mourn and pray for the family of the late Magara, my hope is that we as Ugandans will wake up to the signs of the times, stand up and quickly participate in bringing about the change we would like to see. It is no longer enough to stand by and let history repeat itself. I hope that we can all put the interests of our country before party or self and demand for a better tomorrow today. May Susan find rest in the bosom of the Almighty”
