A fresh audio recording in which a kidnapper of Susan Magara, 28, negotiating with a woman believed to be the deceased’s step mother has gone viral on internet.
In a four minute ‘disturbing’ audio, the kidnapper at a top of his voice, sounding bold, issued threats to a woman who calmly referred to him in vernacular as ‘Taata.’
TrumpetNews has again learnt that Susan’s late mum was identified as Maureen Kabayanja.
The captor mixed Runyoro, English and Luganda- languages but listening keenly to the recording one observes that he speaks very broken vernacular (Runyoro) since he would switch to Luganda very easily as he demanded the ransom.
He said he knows Magara’s family as very affluent with properties both in Kampala and upcountry home in Hoima.
He advised, the woman to bring, “the money tomorrow because I know you have it or else I will do something to Susan which you will live to remember the rest of your life.”
“You are the person who should bring that money, and you dare involve police. Have you heard,” the heartless kidnapper commanded.
Inside Job?
The disheartening audio tape begins with the woman telling the kidnapper that she is yet to get the specific amount he demanded as ransom.
Against that background, the killer asks if her husband John Magara has returned to which she replies, “Yes,” a visibly incensed kidnapper wonders why then she couldn’t raise the money because he knows the man has it.
That statement is evident the kidnapper(s) were equipped with details of what was occurring within the family.
Whereas the woman begged to talk to the victim, the kidnapper less interested in her agony said, “Susan isn’t not around,” before focusing on his ransom, “don’t tell me that is my money ready now?”
As the lady further implored that he reduces on the ransom, “he said, “That money is not too much depending on the people I am dealing with.” He switched to English, “I know them. That is not a lot of money.”
John Magara owns a liquor manufacturing company and Bwendero dairy farm in Hoima.
TrumpetNews has established that majority of Magara’s close relatives are optimistic the murder could have been masterminded by an insider in the family who is rivalling him (father) in business.
The relatives raise pertinent concerns as to why the kidnapper speaks Runyoro and has solid information related to his financial muscle.
One of the relatives who wanted to speak on condition of anonymity indicated that Magara (senior) is lately establishing a chain of businesses including erecting a huge sugar plant because he has miles and miles of sugar plantations in Hoima.
This same relative said it is confirmed Magara paid the ransom in cash but the kidnappers insisted it was not a ‘case of give and take’ and that they would release the innocent young woman next Thursday.
The kidnappers, according to the relative, knew that Susan had identified them and releasing her would lead to their arrest and prosecution, “they had to take her life.”
Initially, the authorities in government were against the decision of paying the ransom, but as parent Magara said he wouldn’t take chances on his child.
