Senior Officials of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) are meeting at Speke Resort Munyonyo, in Kampala.

They are deliberating  on the overall peace and security situation in Somalia and  the best way  forward to sustain  peace and security in Somalia.

The TCCs are Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, which is also the host country for the meeting.

In   his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Patrick Mugoya, commended all TCCs for exhibiting the spirit of Pan-Africanism in establishing mechanisms that aim at stabilizing Somalia, adding that the stability of Somalia is good for both the region and the global fight against terrorism.

“The international community recognizes the role of all AMISOM Troop Contributing Countries in stabilizing Somalia, although the support from them is not commensurate to the task at hand,” said Ambassador Patrick Mugoya.

He urged all representatives from AMISOM Troop Contributing Countries to make fruitful deliberations in preparation for subsequent meetings and summit to be held on 2nd March 2018 and make recommendations to avoid the risk of strategic reversal and loss of the gains  achieved since the inception of the mission in 2007.
