The Regional Police Commander (RPC) Kampala South Metropolitan Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Siraje Bakaleke has been thrown out of office pending investigations into extortion scam in which he allegedly masterminded to con three South Korean ‘investors.’
Bakaleke, who is the Regional Police Commander (RPC) for Kampala South Metropolitan area –reports indicate – was the mastermind of the operation in which three police officers obtain Shs1.4bn from the S. Koreans at gun point, who had gone to meet Wanyoto, a business partner at his officer on Acacia mall in Kamwokya, Kampala.
The three police officers have since been detained at Nalufenya in Jinja as investigations carry on.
The three officers are Isaac Muzanero, George Kayongo and Patrick Ochen, both working with Katwe Police Station, where the Koreans — Ha Dong Sua, Park Seunghoon and Jang Seungkwon – were shortly detained, before the alleged plan to deport them fell through.
Speaking to a local online website SSP Emilian Kayima confirmed the forced leave of Bakaleke.
“An officer under investigation has to vacate office to pave way for smooth investigations to be carried out,” Kayima said.
