Kampala South Police Regional Commander (RPC) Siraje Bakaleke has Tuesday been arrested by Police Professional Standards Unit (PSU) over extortion related charges.
According to our highly placed source at Bukoto based police unit, Bakaleke was arrested by detectives on directives of ACP John Okalany the new head of PSU.
“He recorded a statement, was detained briefly before he was released as investigation go on,” said a source.
TrumpetNews last year exclusively reported how PSU had issued summons for Bakaleke after it emerged he had illegally hired guns and deployed officers to guard city socialite Brian Kirumira aka Brian White.
We reported that one highly trained commando deployed to protect Brian White had been initially guarding slain police AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

PSU spokesman Vincent Ssekate confirmed to this news site that Bakaleke has been arrested, “we got him and he recorded a statement.”
Asked what charges, Ssekate said, “They are related to misconduct.”
The development comes high on heels of a series of arrests of senior police officers, close allies of IGP General Kale Kayihura by the Military Intelligence.
On Tuesday a senior journalist Charles Etukuri belonging to aState owned newspaper and an associate of Kayihura was picked by operatives from Internal Security Organisation in broad day light for writing propaganda stories deeming ISO as unclean agency.
