Police has dropped charges against errant police officer ASP Muhammad Kirumira.
Police prosecutor Katherine Kusemererwa Thursday told police court she lacked enough proof to pin former Buyende DPC over Kirumira over two counts of irregular conduct.
She said the witness, Milton Tumusiime a former Red Pepper reporter threatened to become violent if compelled to testify against Kirumira because he never conducted the interview.
Court chairman, Denis Odongpiny, allowed the prosecutor to withdrawal the charges saying court could not continue with the cases without witnesses.
Kirumira, who was arrested last week has been under detention Nalufenya detention facility in Jinja District, had been slapped with charges of neglect of duty contrary to Section 44(1) Code 19, corruption practices contrary to Section 44(1) Code 23(a).
The other charge is discreditable or irregular conduct contrary to Section 44(1) Code 12 of the Police Act.
