Uganda is still mourning fallen artiste Moses Ssekibogo alias Mowzey Radio who was laid to rest last Saturday after the tragic incident at De Bar in Entebbe.
As news of his life and the tragic ending continue to flow, it has emerged Radio had big plans for his singing career. Sadly, these plans never came to fruition.
This website has learnt that Radio was increasingly getting “irritable” with the direction of the Goodlyfe Crew and had started hatching plans to go solo and prop his super talent outside Goodlyfe
“He had already made it clear he wants to about music as a solo performer. He had already talked to some few people on this direction. The plans of his solo career were known by many” said an insider who worked with the crew
Man alone
As discontent mounted in the group, Radio in his hindsight had started curving out his individual plans to eat his “kuku” on his own and seek his “bread and butter” individually
Fresh info trickling in from sources that were close to the late artist show the overly talented vocalist was finalising on his “man alone” plans
According to insiders who were close to Radio, the talented artiste had started growing “distant” within the music group that also had Weasle, Chagga their manager and a host of other handlers who run the entity.
Angel Music Record Label
As Radio swung into action and worked around plans to quit Goodlyfe Crew, he set up Angel Music in which he enrolled and worked closely with upcoming female artists, Spice Diana.
The two had actually gone ahead to record a collabo and Radio had started working on solo music under the label
In his plans, Radio would leave Weasel and proceed alone as a solo artist.
Radio had embarked on recording a solo album inclusive of gospel, love and inspirational songs.
The album had tunes like Mama, in which it’s lyrics thank a mother for nurturing a son.
Also Tambula Nange, where Radio cries to God asking forgiveness and seeking for wisdom.
Emma Mulondo, Producer Washington
Radio had a set strategy. He had started the hiring process for his dream team.
He had lined experienced artist manager Emma Mulondo (Carlos) to manage the new set up.
Also on the team was producer Washington who incidentally was with him the day he got the tragic injury that ended his life.
Washington was in talks with Radio to lead the production of the music, under the Angel Music label
Radio’s talent kept Goodlyfe alive
The Goodlyfe Crew was for Radio and Weasel. It was started after their infamous fight with Jeff Kiwa who was their initial manager.
As the group grew popular and produced top selling hits, discontent on who the “bread basket” grew.
Radio whose talent and unbeatable voice sold most of their music, had started believing that he was the cash cow of the group and felt he would do far better on his own.
Insiders insist Radio’s solo ambitions got him alienating most of his crew members and he had started moving about on his most times, just like on the fateful day he got the injury that caused his death
Signs were clear- Silk Liquid incident
A little less than 2 months before Radio’s demise, the singing duo (Radio and Weasle) was hosted at Club Silk- Naalya during it’s weekly Unplugged Show.
What shocked many revellers and proved that Goodlyfe was headed for a crack, Radio expressed no interest in the performance after delaying to arrive.
“Weasle and the manager Chagga, arrived at the venue 2 hours before and had to wait for Radio who joined later, was very drunk,” an insider in Goodlyfe narrates.
Radio, looking very distraught unleashed a salvo against his manager Chagga blasting him how he is a failure who only thrives on his voice.
Speaking in Luganda, the pencil thin vocal maestro said, “Gwe Chagga walemwa okuyimba kati olya kudoboozi lyange.” Loosely translated as you failed to sing and now you survive on my talent
After the show, the Goodlyfe Crew had to meet Nigerian superstar Wizkid who jetted into the country a day before his concert.Radio refused to honour the meet.
“This was evident the boy was exiting the group,” an insider revealed, adding that he never followed money issues in regard what they performed for.
It was a sad end for Radio, but maybe the Goodlyfe was at the brink of a break-up.
