Besigye: Kitatta had become a liability to the State

Colonel (rtd) Kizza Besigye has described the on going crackdown on a criminal gang- Boda Boda 2010 by Military Intelligence as a ‘contestant of egos’ among security institutions in the country.

Besigye said he was not surprised by the crimes committed by Boda Boda 2010 since such groups have existed for a long time.

He mentioned Kalangala Action Plan led by Kakoza Mutaale that unleashed ‘terror’ on Ugandans in 2001 elections as same as Boda Boda 2010.

“These are groups that have been existing and are created by the State. They commit crimes to defend the regime. And no one will come out justify their criminality,” Besigye said.

The opposition strongman says that trouble arises when security agencies begin fighting for funds.

Kitatta a close associate of Kayihura

“For long police boss Mr Kayihura has managed to convince the regime chief Mr Museveni that his institution deserves more funds,” Besigye said.

Against that backdrop Besigye said that the patron of Boda Boda 2010 Abdullah Kitata was arrested after he became a liability to the regime.

Military Intelligence caged Kitatta last Saturday after he was suspected of planning gruesome murder of Francis Ekalungar, an accountant of Case Clinic.

The operation further saw the car belonging to the deceased recovered.

Early this month, Ekalungar was reported missing before his body was discovered burned in Kajjansi.

Kitatta, his brother Huzair Kiwalabye and several other of his suspected accomplices are in military detention awaiting to be arraigned in Courts of Law.
