Police report: 48 guns, 524 rounds of ammunition recovered

Police Flying Squad Unit has released its biannual arms and ammunitions recovered report for 2017.

The report indicates that 48 guns including AK47s, pistols and SMGs together with 524 rounds of ammunitions  were recovered across from different regions across the country.

The 10 page report report signed by Herbert Muhangi Flying Squad Commandant, shows that most of these guns were used in robbery whereas others were illegally possessed by retired soldiers and civilians.

Two of these guns were found abandoned, one was handed over to authorities, some others stolen from police stores and used in robbery and murder.

The report again shows that 32 culprits have since been arrested while 3 other suspects were put out of action in a robbery attempt.

Police has since forwarded the cases to Courts of Law while whereas others are still being investigated.

There have been increased cases of murder in the country including assassinations of high profile government officials, police officers, army heads and religious leaders.

Most of the killings are executed using poweful guns with police yet to apprehend the killers.

Although hundreds of suspects have been arraigned in Court, most of them have since got bail.

This leaves the public wondering who the true killers are.

The grisly murder of police head AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi in March last year is still fresh in the minds of Ugandans with security gurus still probing the death.

No real Kaweesi has been arrested although many have severally been detained Court keeps granting them bail.
