Muntu who notified FDC administration that he would kick-start consultation this month after he lost election acrimoniously to his rival Patrick Oboi Amuriat an ally of Dr Kizza Besigye last year.
Muntu then announced that since he has irreconcilable differences with a faction of extremists in the party, he would first traverse the country to seek views of Ugandans on whether he can make a decision.
It is highly anticipated that Gen Muntu wants to form a splinter group to counter Besigye’s activism.
Muntu launched his campaigns in Bunyoro sub-region, Hoima district on Monday at Resort Hotel.
TrumpetNews understands the meeting was attended by religious leaders, independents and NRM members.
A letter from FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi warned that no party member should carry out any public activities anywhere in the country before consulting the party headquarters.
“I’m already in Hoima,” Muntu’s public relations official, Goldino Nyamugabwa, told the media, saying nothing would stop their consultations.
Mafabi is also perceived as Muntu’s rival after the two vied for the Party President office in 2012.
