The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mike Chibita has requested High Court to clear former Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) DPC Aaron Baguma of murder charges.
The High Court judge Flavia Angeline Senoga subsequently dimissed the case on Wednesday morning.
State Attorney Ernest Michael Ojok read Chibita’s letter to Court dated 21st December 2017.
“My Lord we have instructions from the DPP to have criminal proceedings against A8 discontinued,” Ojok said.
Article 120 of the constitution gives the DPP mandate to drop any criminal proceedings.
After declaring him a ‘freeman’ Baguma who was in company of his lawyer Abraham Mpumwire and relatives left Court in jubilation.
Baguma, in 2015 was arrested alongside 8 others including the owner of Pine Car Bond Muhammad Sebuufu.
They were accused of murdering city business lady Donah Katushabe at the car bond in Kampala in 2015.
According to the charge sheet, Baguma found the deceased being tortured by Sebuufu but did nothing.
