NRM youth supporters on Wednesday camped pitch at the High Court civil division protesting summons issued to the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to appear and explain why she suspended six MPs during the age limit debate.
The six MPs who were late last year suspended from parliament petitioned court to have Kadaga appear before court for cross examination from their lawyers.
However, protesters said it was wrong for court to summon the speaker.
“All she did was legal. She could not allow them cause chaos in parliament as if the state is not functioning,” a protester identified as Joseph Kiyimba said.
Carrying placards and donning yellow NRM t-shirts, the group said Kadaga followed the constitution while conducting parliamentary proceedings that led to the eventual passing of the age limit bill.
The Speaker hadn’t showed up by press time.
