Sheikh Issa Wampongo, a teacher at Yusra Primary School in Nakaloke and Masters student at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has been found dead on Tuesday morning.
Police reports indicate that Wampongo went missing Monday from his residence in Kireka in Nakaloke town council in Mbale District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire confirmed the news saying, the Sheikh’s body was later discovered in a stream in Kachumbala in Bukedea District.
Owoyesigire however didn’t have more details. He referred this Website to Mbale District Police Commande (DPC), Steven Ahweera.
Ahweera who had earlier confirmed the death, dismissed reports that Wampongo had been assasinated having been kidnapped.
Ahweera alleged that the Sheikh had a mental problem.
Oweyesigire said police has launched investigations into the matter and will update the nation with details.
