Mirundi: Muntu more dangerous to Museveni than Amuriat

Senior Presidential Advisor on Media Affairs Tamale Mirundi has said defeated FDC leader Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu is a dangerous threat to NRM unlike the incumbent Patrick Oboi Amuriat.

Amuriat succeeded Muntu in a hotly contested FDC race, a signal that the party doesn’t subscribe to the former army commander’s political method.

After winning, Amuriat vowed to intensify defiance as an avenue of overthrowing the regime.

Amuriat, is a political underdog of FDC founder Col Kizza Besigye, Uganda’s main opposition leader.

Mirundi a former spokesman of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ridiculed FDC for ditching Muntu saying he is only capable leader who can remove Museveni.

“Muntu has been in government and in the opposition with very clean truck record. He has no scandal and has not looted this country,” he said on a local TV NBS on Tuesday morning.

Mirundi added that Muntu doesn’t need a political approach to take on government, “his personality is more dangerous.”

The former NRM strongman for long has said opposition will not take power through defiance but rather mobilisation.
