Police Professional Standards Unit (PSU) has commenced investigations into circumstances under which Regional Police Commander (RPC)- Kampala South, Siraje Bakaleke instructed officers to guard city and seclusive tycoon and city socialite Brian Kirumira alias Brian White.
Among the officers who are normally in civilian attire armed with powerful guns is a highly trained commando who previously guarded AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Sometime back, this unidentified commando was pictured flaunting a heavy weapon in Wankulukuku while guarding Brian White who had gone to watch a local football match.
According to an inside source at PSU head offices in Bukoto a Kampala surburb, it is illegal for an officer to display a gun while donned in plain clothes.
“You are only allowed to show your gun when dressed in uniform” the source said.
Preferring to to remain unnamed, this source said that police authorities are concerned about the circumstances in which Brian White got these guards.
“So far there is no written formal communication which shows that Brian White acquired these guards,” a source said.
This website has established that complaints were fowarded to PSU from high authorities indicating that RPC Bakaleke instructed the guards to protect this socialite.
“A general inquiry file has been opened on Bakaleke and in not a very long time, we shall summon him to come and defend himself,” added a source.
TrumpetNews understands that Brian White pays money to Bakaleke for the services in a shoddy, illegal arrangement.
Early this month Brian White was arrested and questioned about the same matter how he obtained these officers to protect him before he was shortly released. However, he denied the arrest.
This source at PSU said Brian White called Bakaleke who used his office to influence his release from detention.
What startled investigators at PSU is how Bakaleke has ignored complaints from the public about these officers in civilian clothes armed with powerful weapons.
“To commence our investigations we got complaints from the public,” said a source at PSU.
When we contacted PSU spokesman Vincent Ssekate, he said he would get back to us after two hours.
Ssekate later said he was in a meeting and promiased to get back to us but hadn’t by the time of filing this report.
Efforts to reach Bakaleke for a comment remained unsuccessful as he wasn’t picking our repeated calls.
Threats
Brian White when contacted to shed light on how he acquired these guards, threw a salvo of words in which he threatened to deal with TrumpetNews writers.
“He hurled insults at us, abused and warned that he would harm us” narrated another writer who was investigating the story for TrumpetNews.
“Stupid. Who are you to ask me how I got the guards. I have noted this number I will look for you. Stupid never call in this number again. Stupid,” he abused.
Brian White has been in the news with the public questioning the source of his money that he has been dishing around including donations to Express FC football fans.
