The Red Pepper Newspaper offices in Namanve have been besieged by operatives from Police Counter-Terrorism Unit on Tuesday evening.
Arinaitwe Rugyendo, one of the directors confirmed the news by posting on his Twitter Account, “The Red Pepper is currently under siege by Counter Terrorism Unit of Police.”
No police official was available for a comment at the time of filing this report.
This website understands that the siege rises from the story published on Monday by the Namanve based publication alleging that President Yoweri Museveni is plotting to topple his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame.
The newspaper quoted a Rwandan local online publication Rushyashya which is reportedly operated by a security agent in RPF.
The governemnt of Uganda on Monday dimissed this report maintaining that Uganda-Rwanda ties are solid.
In 2013, security closed Red Pepper for 11 days after it published a letter written by Gen David Sejusa then the coordinator of intelligence service organs alleging that there was plot to assasinate high ranking government officials opposed to Muhoozi Project.
