Re-arrested Kaweesi murder suspect Senfuka is at Nalufenya

Ahmed Senfuka who was last week re-arrested brutally after Nakawa Magistrates Court granted him bail is in police detention at the most dreaded facility, Nalufenya in Eastern Uganda.

He was among the seven people who had just been released on shs 50m non-cash bail by grade one magistrate Noah Sajjabi who last week said the suspects had overstayed on remand in Luzira Prison without being committed to the High Court.

They were accused of killing AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi in March this year.

Senfuka, after he was freed jumped on a boda boda to go home in Mukono and rejoice with his family.

However, unknown men in plain clothes armed with guns intercepted Senfuka at Spear Motors junction a stone throw away from Court and dragged him into a Toyota Corolla car number UAE 141K before speeding off.

Several security urgencies including police denied knowledge of his whereabouts.

UPDF spokesman Brig Richard Karemire would later tell the media that Senfuka was arrested by Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force (JATT) a highly trained military unit.

Karemire said there are serious crimes being investigated to which he is a suspect.

He declined to divulge details of the crimes.

ADF links?

This website has established that unlike previous reports that Senfuka was rearrested by JATT,  operatives from Police Flying Squad executed the mission.

He was driven to Nalufenya detention where he is being interrogated by detectives on rebel links.

A source said that Senfuka is one of the suspects who can’t be allowed to walk free even when he is granted bail by Court as many times.  “That man is dangerous.

He is among the most wanted. We couldn’t let him go. And we can’t release him,” said a police official privy to Senfuka’s rearrest but asked not to be named.

This official added that Senfuka is not only being investigated in Kaweesi’s murder but also the Sheikhs’ grisly assassinations.

Previously Police Chief Gen Kale Kayihura linked Kaweesi’s death to Muslim killings to which ADF rebels are the prime suspect.

Asked this official  if Senfuka is suspected to have been involved in subversive activities, he declined to comment.

Senfuka was re-arrested with other four whose identities we are yet to ascertain.

Police spokesman AIGP Asan Kasingye confirmed to this website saying it’s true the suspects are held at Nalufenya.

“The army spokesman clearly said it was CMI who arrested them. They were handed over to police and are at Nalufenya,” Kasingye said.

He declined to divulge more details of Senfuka’s re-arrest.  Nalufenya detention centre came to limelight after Kaweesi’s assasination as suspects complained of torture by police operatives to accept to have killed AIGP Kaweesi.

Court later awarded 22 suspects shs 80 million each as compesation for having been tortured.

The re-arrest of Senfuka was condemned by a number of organisation including Judiciary, Human Rights Commission, Law Society and others.
