Photos: Museveni hosts Sudan President Bashir

Sudan President Omar Al-Bashir has Monday afternoon arrived in Uganda for a two-day state visit.

Bashir was welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by high ranking Foreign Affairs Ministry and Security officials.

This is Bashir’s second visit after attending the swearing-in ceremony of President Museveni on May 12, 2016.

He later met his counterpart Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House Entebbe where they exchanged pleasantries before holding talks.

Uganda and Sudan appear determined to strengthen their bilateral relations which had for long been strained over support of rebel movements in South Sudan and Uganda.

Officials say Bashir’s trip comes against the backdrop of unrelenting diplomatic efforts by both countries to normalize ties and boost trade.

President Museveni in 2015 paid a 2-day working visit to Sudan during which he held bilateral talks Bashir and delivered a Lecture on the theme “The Challenges of Economic Development and Peace Building” to the Cabinet Ministers, Diplomatic Corps, Academicians and Civil Society.
