Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi turned down a proposal recommending deployment of more commandos after he consistently reported of death threats but branded his killers cowards before he was gunned down.
TrumpetNews has exclusively learnt that Kaweesi, not once or twice told his superiors that some people warned him they would kill him and he should stop ‘following’ them and mind his business.
To that effect, Police Administration proposed to beefup his security at his home and also also give him lead car like that of IGP Kale Kayihura.
“This would be easy suppress or repel an attack on him. But he ignored the advice and said those threatening his life were mere jokers and cowards,” a police official said.
Kaweesi was killed brutally on March 17 near his residence in Kulambiro, Kampala as he left for work.
It later emerged how anonymous individuals had threatened to take his life.
Against this backdrop, the public raised concerns why Police never bothered to beef up his security.
A source in Police added that rejecting more guards Kaweesi could have been covering up ‘something.’
“May be he never wanted to expose some of his secrets to many people. Remember wherever he goes these officers have to go with him,” said our source.
On several occasions Kaweesi had been cited in scandals but he would rubbish them saying it’s a creation of those who want to dent his image.
His girlfriend Christine Mbabazi Muhoza told the media recently that it’s true Kaweesi received life threatening phone calls and he once confided in a priest in Rubaga.
