The Electoral Commission has received reports of large numbers of aspirants in the ongoing nomination of candidates for elections of Village Women’s Committees.
The Commission has further received reports that the country-wide commencement of the nomination exercise has been largely affected by unfavourable weather conditions.
In view of the above, the Commission has taken a decision to extend the nomination period for the above elections, which was scheduled to end today, Tuesday 7th November 2017, by an additional day.
The nomination exercise will now end on Wednesday 8th November 2017.
Campaigns will commence on Thursday 9th November 2017 and end on Monday 13th November 2017.
Polling Day for Election of the five (5) Members of the Village Women Committee will take place on Tuesday, 14th November 2017.
All stakeholders are urged to take note of this adjustment in the electoral programme.
