Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has said he swore allegiance to NRM party and going against removal of age cap would be suicidal.

The Premier told the Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs chaired by Hon Jacob Oboth Oboth that he is a disciplined cadre of the ruling party and above all a Prime Minister.

” This is politics and I go by my party’s majority on such issues,”Rugunda told the Oboth Committee on Tuesday as he appeared to give his views on the disputed Age Limit Bill.

This bill introduced to Parliament by Igara West lawmaker Raphael Magezi has split the country into two warring factions with majority of the population backing the status quo.

The Magezi bill of passed into law will see a Ugandan of 200 years or a teenager contest for President.

But the biggest percentage of the citizens highly anticipate this law aims at facilitating President Yoweri Kaguta’s life rule.

Museveni, 73, is not supposed to seek a re-election according to the 1995 constitution because he will have clocked the mandatory 75 years of age.
