Police raids journalist Ndawula’s residence, offices

A team of security operatives from Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have Wednesday stormed Stanlely Ndawula’s home in Kulambiro, a Kampala surbub and his offices in Kisasi for search.

Ndawula, an experienced crime reporter was arrested on Tuesday along with his brother Robert Ndawula, he was detained at Kira Road Police Station while the latter at Jinja Road Police Station.

Earlier on Tuesday he was quizzed at CID head offices in Kibuli before being transferred to Kira Police.

“Ndugu Ndawula whisked away from Kira Road cells for a search at his home and  Investigator offices,” a journalist who had gone to visit him said.

He is held on charges of offensive communication under computer misuse act.

Ndawula who operates an online news site The Investigator has been deemed critical of Police establishment with his detailed investigative master pieces exposing criminality in the force.

Some of the top shots he has always written about as masterminds were last week arrested and charges in army Court.

Police spokesman Asan Kasingye had told media earlier that he was yet to be briefed why Ndawula is in jail.

A group of online publishers under a bloc OMPA  in which Ndawula is member issued a statement calling for immediate release of Ndawula.
