Uganda’s renowned crime reporter Stanely Ndawula has Tuesday been interrogated at CID headquarters in Kibuli before being transferred and detained at Kira Police Station.
His brother Robert Ndawula has also spent a night at Jinja Police Cells.
Police has for long been threatening to arrest Ndawula for publishing stories which authorities say were detrimental to the country’s security.
Ndawula was working at Red Pepper before he independently started operating an online news site The Investigator.
He however, became popular after the death of Police spokesperson Late Felix Andrew Kaweesi who was shot dead in Kulambiro near his home
Known to be entrenched in police circles, Ndawula broke several investigative stories exposing rot and criminality in the force.
He embarked on a series of well investigated crime articles which impliacted top shots in police.
He thus went at loggerheads with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura who offered to meet Ndawula but in vain.
However, last week the public applauded Ndawula for consistently exposing dirty cops particularly Nixon Agasirwe who was charged in the Court Martial .
Ndawula on Monday posted on Social Media how he was tired of being a fugitive in his own country and thus had resolved to report to CID headquarters on Tuesday.
