The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) Head, Colonel Abel Kandiho has denied arresting Jonathan Baroza, a former aide of Police Inspector Gen Kale Kayihura.
This comes high on heels of reports that Baroza was recalled from Algeria where he had been deployed to coordinate a police CCTV Project, upon landing at Entebbe Airport on Saturday evening, Kandiho’s boys arrested him and is currently detained in Mbuya, at CMI head offices.
Speaking to this website, Col Kandiho termed the reports as false, “it is not true.”
When pressed whether Baroza was under investigations Kandiho said, “no,” before saying he was holed up in a meeting.
But, our source in CMI who asked not to be mentioned confirmed to us last night that Baroza is in detention waiting to me arraigned in the military court.
Last week, a number of senior police officers ;SCP Joel Aguma; SSP Nixon Agasirwe, Sgt Abel Tumukunde, ASP James Magada and Faisal Katende were charged by the Court Martial in Makindye over espionage and forceful repatriation of Rwandan Refugees.
The charged worked closely with Baroza while he was still in IGP’s office.
Infact Baroza’s name surfaces in the murder of an Eritrean businessman.
Reports indicate that the businessman was robbed of shs 2 billion from his bank account before he was executed on directives of top police officers.
Baroza before he was posted to Algeria worked closely with Nixon Agasirwe, a highly dreaded ‘dirty cop’ who won the trust of Gen Kayihura as a performer.
UPDF spokesman Brig. Richard Karemire told this website that Baroza is neither arrested nor under investigations.
But it must be recalled that the same military officials denied the previous arrests until police officers appeared in the Court Martial.
