Jinja West Parliamentarian Moses Balyeku has enticed local leaders in his constituency with a shs 200,000 kitty each to get their buy-in support for the controversial age limit removal.
In a video clip obtained by this website, Balyeku donned a yellow ribbon and distributed money to the visibly impoverished NRM leaders telling them to shout at the top of their voices how they were support lifting of presidential age limit.
“I am giving you this money which I got from my salary,” Balyeku is overheard convincing his voters in a local language Lusoga amid loud cheers.
The development comes after a section of Balyeku’s constituents started collecting signatures to recall him from Parliament.
But moving a vote of no confidence in member of parliament could only happen in the movement political system.
Majority of ruling party MPs have faced stiff resistance from the voters who insist that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni should serve his last term.
Parliament on Monday notified legislators how shs 29 million had been deposited on their bank accounts to facilitate their consultation with voters.
Opposition lawmakers had earlier vowed to return the money because their voters ‘spoke loudly’ challenging the removal of age limit.
