Hard copies of phone records indicate that Christine Mbabazi Muhoza is the last person fallen AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi talked to before he was assasinated on March 17.
Kaweesi was shot along with other two officers outside his home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb as he left for work.
Police which led the investigations had remained tight-lipped on the progress of the murder probe, until early this month when the media learnt that two security agencies clashed at a resident of ‘little known’ citizen who would later be identified as Christine Mbabazi Muhoza.
It emerged that Mbabazi was Kaweesi’s mistress who was placed under house arrest on orders of Internal Security Organisation (ISO) head Col Bagyenda Kaka.
After police established that Mbabazi’s house was besieged officers rushed to Lungujja in Lubaga Division to rescue her only to be denied entrance by other operatives.
This website understands that police inspector Gen Kale Kayihura became furious over the incident and order for two amoured heavily built trucks from Nalufenya (a dreaded security facility) to smash Mbabazi’s perimeter wall to gain access of her home.
But President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni intervened and sent a neutral force from Special Forces Command (SFC) to guard Mbabazi.
Prime Suspect
TrumpetNews has further ascertained that an intelligence report from ISO shows Mbabazi as the last person Kaweesi rang a few minutes before he was murdered.
An official in this agency who wished to remain unnamed fearing reprimand told this website that being the last person who talked to the Late makes Mbabazi a prime suspect who should have been arrested and interrogated.
“Our frustration is that the same woman has never appeared anywhere to be interrogated on what she discussed with Kaweesi,” said the official.
The call history further indicated that Kaweesi telephoned Mbabazi the previous night (Thursday March 16).
The official said that ISO is concerned why Police exonerated Mbabazi, “that is what we are interested in. It’s clear that police knew her before. Why didn’t they cause an arrest then.”
Mbabazi admitted to have been a close friend of Kaweesi and he confided into her a lot.
She also told the media how Kaweesi was receiving death threats from unknown people.
Since March a number of people have been arrested and tortured in many detention centres in the country but the ‘real’ killers remain at large.
