A bus belonging to a Kenyan company Bus Car has Sunday morning been intercepted with shs 10 billion fake money at Busia border.
The bus was enroute to Kampala at the time the authorities landed on the cache of fake notes.
According to one of the passengers who was on board, URA authorities stopped the bus registration number KCL 054Q while doing usual routine inspection and found sacks of money wrapped in boxes of dog food identified as Peddy Booster.
“The money was stashed in the bus boot and you couldn’t tell whether it’s money in the boxes. The driver told authorities he was given the boxes of dog food by clients in Kenya and was told to deliver them to contacts in Kampala,” the passenger who requested not to be named said.
“Authorities then shut the border on Uganda side to sort out the matter.”
By the time of filling this story, authorities in Busia were still trying to piece together evidence to find out who the culprits and illegal money dealers were.
